The C110 Skyline is an iconic classic. It is also know as the "Ken & Mary" or Kenmeri Skyline. Named after it's characters from television ads that ran for two years. This skyline was also the last one to participate in the motorsports circuit until the BNR32 came out. The C110 also has several different cult following styles, from original, to the wild bosozoku, shakotan and kyusha-kai mods.
Thomas, AKA Tami on the SPC forum has taken the Rocky Auto Japan route and built his C110 kit as an "Unmolested" Skyline. Using Fujimi's version which has no eninge bay details, even though it does come with an engine, Tami took it to the next level and opened the hood and added those missing details. With an entirely scracth built engine bay, what would it be with out any extra bits like the hood prop, the hood latch spring. The wheels of choice are the classic Watanabe's. No extreme widths or offsets here, they are kept close to what the stock steelies would have been. The paint job is a bit of a newer touch with its metal flakes and ultra high shine. The interior stays factory stock. Under the hood lies the S20 twin cam with triple carbs, it's what makes this GT-R move effortlessly in the streets of Japan.
Here are a few words from Tami.
"A few things about my "unmolested" Classic Beauty
Kit: Fujimi Nissan Skyline 200 GT-R KPGC110 DX (ID-121) with PE parts
Paint: Mr Hobby Metallic red airbrushed, Mr Hobby Gloss Clear spray can
Wheels: The kit came with 2 sets of wheel these are the optional wheels
Engine: in-line 6 cylinder S20 (included the kit)
Scratch built part: engine bay was mostly scratch build, also made some changes on the interior (there was no legroom and pedals)
The kit comes with full engine but the engine bay is very poorly detailed and designed. If you want a nice OOB build on this kit you have to forget about showing the engine. After cutting the hood it needs a lot of scratch build to make it look good. Also there are some fitment problems with the glass, the bumpers, mirrors and the exhaust. I'm not sure what Fujimi was thinking, they made it very hard to enjoy the progress but, it is a nice model, and a great challenge to build for sure. Wouldn't recommend for beginners though!
Some facts about the car:
NISSAN Skyline GT-R (C110) S20 (1972 - 1973) Description & History: The second generation of the Nissan Skyline GT-R was short-lived due to the early 1970's gas crisis that ended demand for performance cars. The car was launched at the 1972 Tokyo Motor Show and in terms of power it featured the same in-line 6 cylinder S20 engine from the first Skyline GT-R generation. On the visual side of it, the second generation (also known as C110) featured minor aesthetic changes as well as few aerodynamic added parts. Only 197 units were made and they were sold exclusively on the Japanese domestic market."
I hope you have enjoyed looking at Tami's take on a classic beauty.

PIT STOP: S20 Datsun 510 By, Del AKA 508Boricua
Heres a 510 that was built by MS forum member 508Boricua, Del. It's based of the Hasegawa SSS 4 door version. The kit doesn't come with an engine or engine bay details at all. It didn't stop Del from slapping in a S20 from a Hakosuka. A tight squeeze, but with some elbow grease and some scratchbuilding skills, it looks right at home. The paint job give it a bit of a new school look while the cross bar style wheels take it back to the old school ways.
HERES MY FINISHED DATSUN 510 SSS BLUEBIRD.
I MOTORIZED IT WITH A INLINE S20 FROM A KPGC10 SKYLINE.
AS YOU CAN SEE IT WAS A TIGHT FIT. I SCRATCHED BUILT
PARTS LIKE THE CLUTCH PUMP, MSD, WINK MIRROR AND
ENGINE BAY. WHEELS I BOUGHT AT A LOCAL MODEL SHOW
FOR A BUCK. THIS WAS A FUN BUILD. HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE IT.
Ya gotta love a clean 510.

Shakotan Celica Update: Some Paint!
So after debating on what type of paint job I wanted to go with, I decided to go with a bright white base coat and some patterns in baby blue and dark blue. There might be a fourth color, but I am not 100% sure just yet. This style is found mostly bosozoku cars, but you can also find it on some of the shakotan rides as well. These paint schemes are similar to the ones you will find on old and new race cars. Some of the most popular patterns are the Falken tires patterns found on there drift cars and Advan Racing patterns. I think my next build will get the Adavan pattern.
So far I have the white base with pattern "phase 1" in baby blue. It's far from perfect as its the first time I put patterns onto a build. In a couple of days masking for "phase 2" will go on. It's the first time that I add patterns onto any build. I have done two-tones before, but nothing like this so it's far from perfect. There are a couple of spots that need touch up, but not just yet since most of those spots will get covered by the next color.
I know it's only a few pics and the last 2 pics are smaller, thats because I took them with my phone. It's all I had time for. So stay tuned for my next update on my Mark 2.

Celica & MarkII Updates
Here's a small update on my Celica and MarkII.
I was debating on what type of lip spoiler to use, it was either a mild chin type spoiler, a FOHA style or step it up a notch and slap a Jay Leno style chin spoiler...haha, Jay Leno it is...check it out.
It needs a bit of cleaning up along the outer edeges, but so far I'm loving the way it looks.
The MarkII got some bumper work done. I had to fill in some gaps and add a bit of missing details of how the bumpers actuall mount up. The side skirts also gome some putty and styrene treatment to add a bit of flare. The wheel choice was changed as well. The Work Miesters needed too much work to get them the way I want them. So I opted on a set of Aoshima 18" VIP Gartmier wheels with a bit of a change. I used the stretched tires from the work wheels and added extra lip for some more depth.
Thats about it for now. You can see my Impala in the back there, it's primered and ready for some paint...That will be the next update as I have made some goodies for it.

Flushed Civic EA
With the reissue of Tamiya's Honda Civic EA, there has been several great looking builds. This is one of them. SPC forum member Win'th from Thailand has tackled this kit and added some extra flare. He cut open the hood and added a B16 with a snail big enough to swallow a baby bird. He kept the engine bay as clean and simple as possible as it is done on real project cars. Scratchbuilt intake manifold and charge pipes are just a few details that have been added. A rusty hood covers up the beastly little engine while the rest of the body is done up in white and a baby blue front lip spoiler to catch the attention of the front mount intercooler. It's rocking the ever loving BBS RS wheels with some low pro tires and some negative camber to tuck them into the wheel wells. For the interior you can notice that it has some bucket seats and a hatch bar, but thats all you get to see for the interior. Under in the rear suspension you get a peek at some aftermarket control arms and the subtle camber affect.

The End: OS GIKEN 510
So, what do you get when you toss in an idea and sit on it?? 2 years of hard work, thats what. yup, today marks the 2 year anniversary of when i re-started this little sucker. When I first bought this kit, i didn't think it would take me this long to finish it. I bought it when it was released under the "tuner series" from Revell in 2002. at the time i had tried to fit some fujimi 15" watanabe's, i hacked away at the wheel arches to make them fit. oh man did that look stupid. so i put it away in a box. there it stayed with out an idea that it would end up like this.
I can honestly thank Jimmy aka Fujimmy. if it was not for him on making and casting the resin OS Giken TC-16 engine, this would probably still be in a box. i had thought about leaving the box stock engine, but that didn't really fuel the fire. i rebuilt the front and rear wheels wells on the chassis, modified the strut set up and went from there. this one has the most scratchbuilt parts i have ever done and several other "first timers". like the body weathering or using alclad paints. all i can really say is that im happy to have finished this even though the building part is the part i enjoyed the most.
Specs: OS 510
Kit: Revell Tuner Series
Engine: Fujimmy Casted TC-16
Wheels: Aoshima Techno Phantoms
Suspension: super low shakotan style
Scratchbuilt parts: Header, exhaust, strut arms, roll cage add ons, wheel wells, rear sway bar, water resovoier, oil filter relocation, seat belts/harness, wink mirror, induction tube, MSD 6al box, MSD ignition coil, fuel line and pump
Kit bashed parts: head lights are fog lights, outside mirrors are from an impala kit, rear under wing is from an R32 kit, ae86 roll cage main hoop, nascar gauge board, R32 front and rear brakes, ae86 modified radiator, oil cooler from aoshima kai parts.
This is was 10 years in the making.
Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned for more builds from me coming up soon.
